Purpose
In collaboration with the California Community Foundation (CCF) and the Center for Community Engagement (CCE) at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), the Southeast Los Angeles Civic Leaders Network (SELA-CLN) develops projects and offers community forums on the quality of K-12 education, access to affordable and high quality housing, community safety, youth development programs and services, and civic participation in Southeast Los Angeles. SELA CLN strives to foster a culture of involvement among residents of the cities in the Southeast Los Angeles cities and develop leaders with the knowledge, skills, capacities, resources, and networks to actively participate in civic affairs and address civic problems.

SELA-CLN is comprised of participants from eight different cities, including Bell, Bell Gardens, Cudahy, Huntington Park, Lynwood, Maywood, South Gate, and unincorporated Walnut Park. Join us and help develop our collective understanding, knowledge, skills, and capacity as emerging community leaders and work together to address the needs in our communities and improve the quality of life in Southeast Los Angeles.
The majority of SELA-CLN members participated and graduated from the Southeast Los Angeles Civic Leadership Academy, which focused on leadership development and capacity building, strengthening their political agenda, and developing projects and offering community forums on prioritized areas.
